Hawks Win Opener Despite 3 PP Goals Against

Hawks fans should be happy with the outcome. But,...how about that terrible PK tonight?
One of the reasons the Hawks were so successful last year was because of their PK unit. Frolik and Kruger were sensational. In comes Nordstrom,...and it didn't click tonight.

On the positive side: Hawks fought for this win, after giving up the lead 5:16 into the third period. The Hawks were successful with fighting for wins last year, especially early on in the season. It paid off wonderfully later in the year. The Hawks showed that they were not a one trick pony.

The #1 star of the game with 1 G and 2 A was Brandon Saad. Brandon Bollig lead off the season with the first goal of the game. Incidentally, it was his first NHL goal. Way to go Bollig! Bollig had 8:04 seconds of playing time. Getting more than the 5 minutes he used to average before.

Although Corey Crawford gave up 4 goals tonight, he could have easily given up 8 tonight. He made some absolutely splendid saves. He was the TRUE star of the game. Defense NEEDS to play much better than it did tonight.
