Stalberg get's first Hat trick as Hawks snap 0 for 2012

Racing for a puck down the right side Viktor Stalberg flew past his man to pick up the puck and shove it into the net for his first career hat trick. Hawks more importantly snapped a 4 game losing streak and saw Detroit lose in Long Island. So, the Hawks and St. Louis sit a top the Central with 55 points (St. Louis has a game to spare). The Hawks aren't out of the wood work yet, since Patrick Sharp is out of the line-up (Injury vs. Detroit) for 3-4 weeks with an upper body injury. That's certainly a big gun to have out of the lineup. 40 pts /42games. So far, his best career start. I thought Sharpie was on the pace for 90 before the skid started. Well, He'll be happy with  60 now.
Hawks recalled Ben Smith to only see Benny shove in a backhander. Good to see Ben get his 2nd of the season. I like Ben Smith. Actually Smith, Shaw and Hayes ALL played well since being called up. Very nice to see!
Now,...the fourth leading GOAL scorer on the team is Viktor Stalberg with his 10,11,12th goals of the season surpassing Patrick Kane at 10.  Here is the box score from tonights game as well as the top players of the Hawks.

Time to start thinking about getting rid of the dead weight.

Okay, ....after a 4 game losing streak (which the Hawks aren't out of yet,...knock on wood it ends against Columbus),...the Hawks need to think about getting rid of players andOkay, ....after a 4 game losing streak (which the Hawks aren't out of yet,...knock on wood it ends against Columbus),...the Hawks need to think about getting rid of players and starting to fill the HOLES in that lineup that Stan Bowman says they don't have. hehehehehe

Okay.
1) Bryan Bickell : He's at the top of my list (no shock here). I've only seen Jimmy Hayes for 3 games and he's done more in 3 games than Bickell's done all year.

2) Daniel Carcillo: Is he in the plans for the future? It's going to be hard to trade him after a 7 game suspension and his second suspension this year. (not counting the suspension he served games 1&2 for last year...that would make 3 suspensions served).

3) Andrew Brunette: He'll get his 20 goals and 40 points most likely. Is he going to help  you for the cup run?

4) Steve Montador: Kind of an enigma. He did well on the PP and then Q took him off of it.. Other than that, he's been....alright.

5) Sean O'Donnell: 40 years old , slow, but he may be good in the locker room.

6) Sami Lepisto: I am sure that he'd be on the top of Q's list. He's not coming back next year. Nor would he want to. What ? So, he can sit on the bench again? Might as well trade him.

7) Dave Bolland: Loved by Chicagoan's especially for the playoffs. But other than the playoffs, he's a no-show.

8) Niklas Hjalmarsson: He his 3..5 m salary might be a hindrance, but he makes too many mistakes.

9) Patrick Kane' I know, he's not going ANYWHERE>>>>, but, consider the fact that you could get a TON back for him.

10) Rockford Icehogs: Who could be brought up? Who should be traded? Who should be kept?
I think it's going to be very difficult to trade Kyle Beach? he's been injured and I don't think anyone wants him. He hasn't amounted to much in 3 years.
Players that you keep: Pirri, Olsen, Shaw, Hayes,B. Smith, Morin.

11) Other players in the system: Adam Clendening, Phillip Danault, Brandon Saad and Mark McNeil are keepers.

Hawks need a ONE great top 6 player and ONE great puck-moving defenseman.
What is the possibility of trading for Dustin Byufuglien again. Not out of the question. The Hawks can afford his salary, and they know the GM VERY well for Chebeldayov was with the Hawks the past few years as the asst. GM to Bowman.  I'd love to see Big Buff back in the Indian head sweater.

Whatever rout that Stan Bowman chooses to go, he needs to make decisions shortly. Teams that will most likely be sellers will be (Winnipeg, Columbus, New Jersey, Anaheim,  Montreal,  NY Isles, Edmonton,  Buffalo, T.B., Carolina). Time to HUNT for some great players under that $3.5m rage.

Hawks 0 for 2012

The first time ALL year the Hawks have had a losing week. They didn't even pick up 1 point in that week.
They lost at home to Edmonton and Colorado who BOTH have been struggling. Then they Hawks got up for a nice game in Philly but still gave up a goal with less than a minute to go in the game to get zero points. The Hawks are farther away from the title than they think. According to the last podcast, Stan Bowman says the team "doesn't have that many holes"...BULL SHIT. The Hawks needed to get rid of Campbell for his money was killing lineup mobility,...that's for certain, but WOW do they miss his puck carrying skills. Leddy isn't ready. Hjalmarsson isn't worth the money they're paying him (thanks S.J.), and on top of that the Hawks have 3 rookies in the lineup and they completely seemed out of whack. Energy was there, but they aren't getting enough bodies in front of the net to get deflections, tip in's. Their powerplay blows donkey balls again. Why in the HELL does Q mess with a good thing. Whenever he seems to have a nice lineup, he has to tinker and dab and .......it just sucks for linemates who are trying to figure out their partners positions.
I would have to put a lot of the losses on Coach Q. Who he is bringing up, who he has in the lineup, and his balance on that team sucks of late. Hawks need to regroup quickly. They have Detroit back at home Sunday.

Montador, Kruger-IR; Shaw& Olsen called up.

Andrew Shaw and Dylan Olsen will be making their NHL debut in Philly. One thing I will give Stan Bowman credit for is he is trying to fill that roster with AHL hopefuls. (Morin, Pirri, Hayes, Smith, Kruger, Shaw and Olsen) as well as Saad.

Kruger has stuck with the team, but is on the IR. Smith , Morin and Pirri are almost ready to seriously compete for full time spots within a year or two. Saad - this kid is going to be a superstar.
Shaw will fill the Carcillo spot, and Olsen is a stay-at-home defenseman and will take Montador's spot. Lepisto is probably going back in the dog house (if he resigns with the Hawks...he would be NUTS and so would the Hawks for offering it to him).  John Scott needs to be better with his passing. His skating has gotten much better, but now it's the finite part of the game he needs to work on.

Hawks play @ Philly tomorrow night. Should be a great game.

Carcillo gets a 7 game suspension by NHL

Okay,... I know that Brandan Shanahan is trying to control incidences of violence. But, c'mon....7 games. Really Brandon? I understand that it was a violation of the "Boarding Rule" and that Daniel Carcillo is a 9 time suspended player,...but really? 7 game suspension? You're going to turn Carcillo into a pussy cat. He's going to find himself out of the league because what he's good at, isn't allowed.

Granted, I don't like injuries. I thought Carcillo was going to get 3-4 games. 7 is heinous. We shall learn in the few months what this actually does to Danny's game.

Carcillo get's indefinite suspension Hawks lose to Oilers 4-3

Okay,...let's first start off with the Hawks play... IT SUCKED> In particular, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Duncan Keith , Corey Crawford and yes,...Bryan Bickell. Corey let up some pretty easy goals during a 5 minute major where Daniel Carcillo got called for boarding (and btw... he'll be visiting Brendan Shanahan tomorrow for that hit).  The Hawks Powerplay is still putrid. Last I counted it was 1:22  maybe 1:23. I'll have to revisit those stats. But really, does it make a difference when you're THAT pathetic?
Lepisto, Scott (who couldn't find the tape on his passes all day), and Bickell all playing on the same day? OH BROTHER!!!!
Well, good news is that Jimmy Hayes scored his 1st NHL goal (with the Hawks 3rd goal of this game). And, yes, Hossa and Toews are TRULY carrying this team.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Ray Emery back in goal Thursday since he has sat out the last 5 games, and Corey didn't really look all that sharp.
