3 goalies: Simpson, Carruth and Mattson got sent back to their minor league squad along with Mirko Hoefflin and Ludvig Rensfeldt.............FIRST CUTS of the preseason.
Mark McNeill looked like a first round draft pick and Brandon Saad looked like a top 3 overall pick (which he wasn't). He's got a decent chance of raising some eyebrows.
Jamal Mayers off the Mark McNeill feed filled the net. Nice passes. Played big in front of the net.
Viktor Stalberg: Speed but cant bury the puck. (just like last year).
It was awesome to see Nick Leddy get a bit physical.
Kyle Beach played pretty good: He did lose face offs and did have a turnover. But, he assisted on the Olesz goal.
Jamal Mayers, Phillip Danault, Brandon Saad, Marcus Kruger had good games.
John Scott,...well he's John Scott. Skates awful, plays awful,...is a nice guy in the locker room. blah blah blah.
Ben Smith, David Toews, didn't make impacts today.
Goalie wise: The softie that Ray Emery gave up still bothers me a bit. Salak vs. Emery: still pretty close. Slight edge to Salak.
Jimmy Hayes didn't play well tonight. He couldn't handle the puck and had turnovers.
Sami Lepisto looked GOOD. He wasn't slow tonight. And the star of the game was Rostislav Olesz....yes Rusty looked darn good. Scored a goal and didn't look out of place on the Toews line.
