Camp Report 2011 #1:

Throughout the camp I will chime in on who appears to be doing WELL and who ISN'T.
Let's give letter grades to those that are making an impact. If they aren't making an impact, then they won't be reported. Sound fair? Okay...let's, get started.

Jonathan Toews: A+ (anyone surprised?) According to beat reporters and fans who were at the first day of camp he was "a man amongst boys".

Brandon Saad: A The way he played in the Rookie tournament this isn't a surprise at all.

Michael Frolik: A Skated well and was even physical.

Corey Crawford: A- Made plenty of big saves.

Mac Carruth: A He looked really good. Best goalie on the ice.

Patrick Kane: A- People said he looked good and the wrist appears to be better. (Nice shootout goal he had....and even yet, a BETTER celebration.

Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Nick Leddy and Niklas Hjalmarsson : A-. Looked ready for the season to begin.

Philip Danault; A- Was impressive. Skated well + handled puck well.

Brandon Pirri: A- Also looked good.

Shawn Lalonde: A- ...and he scored too.

Joe Lavin + Ryan Stanton : B+ most impressive rookies on the blue line.

Marcus Kruger, Kyle Beach: C+ Neither made first day impacts.

Daniel Carcillo: B+ Had restraint. Had to be pulled apart from engaging with Bollig, but he was aggressive and skated really well.

Alexander Salak: B+ Looked good and looked BIG in net. Was extremely mobile and quick.
David Toews: B: Works hard, just like his brother.

Ray Emery: B- (interestingly enough that is the grade he gave himself also) Coach Q liked what he saw from Emery,...so that's a good start, even though he gave up 3 goals including a breakaway to Jonathan Toews. According to fans who were there, they thought Emery looked slow from post to post. (That has always been his forte, no news there).

Sami Lepisto: D- He looked out of place. Let's see how he is by week's end.

Rostislav Olesz: D Slow, Slow and slower. (still has no strength in his legs). Hope he has his legs under him by Oct 1. He is a big guy.

Jeremy Morin: N/A He still must be injured. Only skated. He also was
pulled from the Rookie tournament. Post concussion syndrome. NOT good.

and of course....John Scott: F Has no use being in an Indian head sweater
