Todd Bertuzzi jams in a puck to retake the lead. But, the Hottest Hawk 2 minutes later took the puck deep in the right zone, and skated completely around through the top center unchecked, and rifled in his 17th of the season. The prettiest goal had to be the cannon on a one timer from Patrick Kane that went high shoulder of Jimmy Howard to give the Hawks the 3-2 lead. Jimmy Hayes made his debut and had his entire family fly out to see him (minus his brother Kevin who was in a hockey tournament in Detroit). They got to see 8 minutes of ice time from the rookie who played very well. Well done Jimmy. Good luck in the future.
The Hawks finished the month 10-2-1 and even though Detroit has a game in hand, the Hawks would still remain on top. I said back in October this club would pull in 109 points PLUS. 41 games is the half way mark. If the Hawks win 2 of the Next 3 games, they are slightly above that pace. Remember however, the Hawks have a wicked schedule in February where they have an 8 game road trip. 10 of the 14 games will be away from the UC with tough games including:
A rematch of the 2 ugliest games of the season (Edmonton, Calgary) The tough Phoenix team. The HOT NY Rangers and the rejuvinated L.A. Kings. But, their 4 home games are very tough. BLUES, REDWINGS, STARS, MAPLELEAFS. If the hawks can go 8-6,...that would be extremely good. I predict the Hawks will go 8 -3-3 if they play well,... or if they have an average month 7-5-2. Anything less than 16 points will be non acceptable.
