Igor Makarov signs with KHL St. Petersburg

Wednesday, SKA St. Petersburg reported a three year agreement with former Hawks prospect Igor Makarov. Igor Makarov still had one year remaining on his deal. Apparently, the Hawks and The Rockford Ice Hogs flat out released him and then he signed with the KHL.
The isn't surprising. I don't think Makarov felt comfortable here, and I don't think he would have resigned with the Blackhawks organization if he stuck around another year. He wanted to play in the NHL last year, but his game wasn't quite ready. So, back to the KHL he goes. The Hawks have so many prospects with so few spots left on their NHL roster that Makarov's departure makes the waters a little less muddy. Good luck to Igor and hopefully we see him in the future.
